Metro (or Select) is a level of soccer between recreational and competitive. The league offers an environment for dedicated and skilled players to develop and play. Metro is classified as a Division 3 youth soccer league. (Recreational teams are Division 4. Competitive teams are Division 1.) Metro teams are typically stronger than even 'A' division recreational teams. The Metro league, you may play teams from Fairfield to El Dorado Hills to Elk Grove to Roseville, and as far north as Chico. The greatest difference between recreational and select is the opportunity for tournament play. Tournaments can give players a chance to play in more than the 10 league scheduled games each year.

Metro teams require a Head Coach and an Assistant Coach. Head Coaches must have obtained at least an "E" level coaching certificate, and Assistant Coaches must have obtained at least an "F" level coaching certificate. Either the head or assistant coach that appears on the team's CYSA roster must be a currently certified USSF referee.

Players who are interested in a higher level of play and competition may contact the Metro coordinator of any of the Clubs for information about next year's season. Prospective players may tryout for any Metro team for 2008, even if the team is not in their home club. Teams and clubs coordinate their own tryouts independent of other Metro teams.

Please note that Under 10 players may not play up on an Under 12 Metro team.
